They told me that it was Capitol One Bank, but gave me the last four of a credit card from a different company... one that had been cancelled due to fraud. Stated that my "last payment of $40 on 7/21/2020 had been rejected by the bank" and began pressuring me to make a payment on the phone with them. Had the last four of my bank account number and my current address. Definitely a fraud, as all my cards are current or paid in full, but it's concerning that they had access to some of that information.
Spam! I do not answer calls if I do not know who they are.
I've now blocked this number.
Apparently settling a debt with US Bank in regards to a credit card. I don't have an account with US Bank, and never have, so I don't trust this number.
They called me a few times, I kept ignoring it, when I finally did answer, they just hung up immediately.
This was a debt collection agency for "US Bank" and the debt they were calling about was for an old closed down credit card with an annual fee that wasn't paid at the last moment and not reversed. I don't do business with US Bank anymore and they still continue to call me a year later about this junk debt
