| | So, it all starts with a robo-dialer. "Hi, this is Heather, calling about your credit card. Don't worry, your account is fine, but this is your last chance to get blah blah blah..."
Spoke with "Brian Stokes" or something close to that, with an accent. He wanted my credit card number to run my credit and see if I'm eligible. I told him I needed to know what the company was in order to conduct business, and I didn't just give out my credit cards to anyone. [No, I like to give them to strangers who call me and claim to be able to get me the low rate of 6.5% as long as my balance is over $3,500. Yeah. That's a fantastic idea!]
Anyway, I finally finagle a location and company name from "Brian." Supposedly he's calling from "Credit Card Services" in Tampa Florida. Does he have a website? "It's under construction." Of course it is! Brian senses that I might not be on the hook, and tells me I just need to give him the credit card number and they'll be able to pull up my information. |
