| | | My mother received a call from a man who claimed to be her grandson. Said that they were on vacation in Florida and had been found with two pounds of marijuana in the car and needed money. Made it a point to say to keep it secret from his dad. Believing it was her grandson, she told him he had to tell his dad, that she wouldn't do anything behind his back. When he realized she wasn't paying, he hung up on her. |
| | | Call just came in at 12:11 am - CID listed as TOLL FREE NUMBER. I almost answered because I am waiting for a repair man and thought the company might have had to postpone the service call today. Decided to let it go to VM - they hung up. Made the right decision. But if they call back - I might answer - and if they identify themselves as my oldest grandson - I'd tell them that my oldest grandson is three years old or that my oldest grandson is sitting right here in front of me. |
| | | This number called my great grandmother about a half an hour ago. He pretended to be my dad and said he was in the Dom. Rep. For the wedding of his friend and that they got in a car crash. He also had a broken nose and needed $1,100 dollars wired immediately. He asked her to keep this a secret from everyone. She told him that she can't do anything, as she is 99 and bed ridden and not in control of her funds, and that she would have to tell my grandmother when she gets home. He immediately hung up.
This made me incredibly angry because she is vulnerable and has panic attacks over that kind of stuff. PLEASE EVERYONE BE CAREFUL. |

I immediately knew it was a scam, and so played along, asking him how he like the college that he'd just visited. He said, "it's OK, but there are a lot of others out there." Then, I told him that I couldn't remember the name and location of the one he'd just visited. Predictably, his voice became muffled, and then we were disconnected. |

She asked which of her Grand childen it was....this male gave an actual name of one of the Grandchildren...she asked about why his voice was so hoarse. A guy stating he was from the Embassy got on the phone and was very well spoken. My grandparents thought it was weird so started asking questions. The Man stated my Grandparents address, phone #, and full name but couldn't tell them my address so the questions started coming and then they just hung up. |
