| | Just got a voicemail from this number, looking for my wife by her maiden name and name from her first marriage (they did not mention her current last name). Said they were a paralegal from some law office and that they were calling for a statement regarding an affidavit, and that if she didn't call back, her case would be turned over to the Bexar county courts. This # is a Cleveland phone number, and she has never lived near Cleveland. I didn't call back, as this is an obvious scam.
We had a similar thing happen almost 2 months ago from a different number, claiming to be a private investigator claiming there were 2 counts of bank fraud on record for my wife. The funny thing is that when I called back, they said it was me that had the fraud charges, not her. They tried to tell us that there was a warrant out for her arrest, etc. I called the local financial crimes unit of the police department and they confirmed that these scams happen all the time. Don't be fooled! |
