I know these calls are from criminals that are most likely over seas calling from their computers with spoofed numbers.

Scammers and stupid telemarketers have been around long before Caller ID was available to regular people. Call blocking devices won't work without Caller ID Numbers (CNUM).
How old are you, by the way?
In 1990, I paid $120.00 for a dual-cassette answering machine.
Those devices were more expensive in the years prior to that.

I just got a call from this (213-232-2846) number. This the samd old tired win a free cruise scam - only this time they're using a different but similar number. The prior number they've used is 213-232-2567...
This is so obviously a scam!! There's no xxxx-ing way they're going to give a free cruise away just for answering a survey - sorry to say it, but anyone who falls for this scam is a fool...
Never under any circumstances give the caller any personal information...

| | | I've had this happen as well, which is why I use a Skype and Google Voice number for most companies. And I mean I even give those to financial companies like my banks or credit card companies. I've never had anyone that needed to reach me, not get through. Like if a credit card thought there was a fraudulent charge or something. |

I was lucky that my phone was in "do not disturb" and my voice mail did not want to be disturbed either, so I continued with my pleasant dreams while the scammer wasted his time waiting for my answer. Now this number is on my "black list". If they call for the second time, it goes to the "blocked list" and then they have to change their phone number to continue with their scam. |
